About your instructor:
Get to know Anita Boser, Board Certified Structural Integrator, Certified Hellerwork Practitioner, RYT 500 and author of Undulation: Relieve Stiffness and Feel Young.
As a child, Anita was the smart kid, the one you’d want to help you with your homework, but the next-to-last one picked for any sports team. She was skinny and uncoordinated, so she identified with her mind and ignored her body. Then as an adult, as the mom of twin boys, she couldn’t ignore her upper back and neck pain. She thought that she needed to get stronger, but when she exercised, the pain often got worse, not better. Different therapies helped her, but none lasted—until structural integration. After the second session of the series, she was even able to climb the rope in karate without her back hurting.
As an executive, Anita spent her days at the computer and on the phone. Her posture and stress had been distorting her body in ways generated pain. Structural integration improved her alignment and helped her release the tension, but, more importantly, taught her how to heal herself. One of the most valuable tools she learned from the Hellerwork series was undulation. It literally transformed her life. No longer uncoordinated, she became a structural integrator herself and now helps others achieve their own breakthroughs.
The turning point for her was incorporating undulations into her daily life. Over a period of months, the muscle pain and stiffness in her back and neck melted. She felt empowered to take care of her own health. As a practitioner, she taught this to her clients and found that it was accessible to all of them, even those with chronic pain and especially those with fibromyalgia, arthritis, and scoliosis—even those who had spine surgery. She became convinced that undulation was essential to spine health and wanted to share it with more people.
In 2007, Anita wrote and self-published Relieve Stiffness and Feel Young with Undulation. The book included 52 therapeutic exercises that
she created for her clients, with the idea that they would do an exercise a week. She presented workshops across the United States and in Canada and wrote articles for many publications. In 2016, she released a second edition, Undulation: Relieve Stiffness and Feel Young, which includes the same exercises, but organized them into sections so readers can find the ones that would help them most.
Anita hasn’t been chosen for a sports team recently, but she has joined a belly dance troupe and taught yoga and dance. At 52, she is stronger and more flexible than any other time in her life. “It’s like I was the uncoordinated duckling who undulated into a graceful swan,” she says,
“If my body can change like this, I know that anyone can get the same results.”
